Vaasa International Dog Show

Our third show this year and the first dog show of Sienna.

The Cirnecos were judged by Marie Gadolin from Sweden. Lucky was Best Male as usual and Sienna won her class with CQ which meant that she was the best female with cac and cacib! In the Best of Breed ring Lucky won and his daughter became Best of Opposite Sex. What a nice start for Sienna's show career!

Show year started

Lucky

It's already April (and still winter here in Finland...) and no blog posts since January. I am truly sorry for the long break. The beginning of the year has been very busy - mostly at work and private life.


Dog shows

Last year was successful as our Lucky del Borgo di Pratica was awarded the Most Winning Cirneco in Finland a second year in a row. Lucky's young son Aatos, Iosono Cherubino, co-owned by us, was the second winning male. Also, we got very nice success to our other Cirnecos as well.

So, this has been a pretty lazy year so far if you count our participation in the dog events. We have participated only in two dog shows and three agility competitions this year.

The first show we attended was held at the end of January - Turku International Dog Show 20.01.2013. We had only Lucky there and he gained Best of Breed with his 14th CACIB under judge Rudi Brandt.

The second show - Latvian Winner Show - was held on Easter 31.03.2013, and we drove from Helsinki to Riga, Latvia. We had two dogs with us - our Sienna's parents Lucky and Peppi (Iosono Deja Vu). A record number of the Cirnecos was entered (in the Baltics); eight Cirnecos. Lucky managed to win Best of Breed with his 15th CACIB and he gained his International and Latvian championship as well as Latvian Winner 2013 title. Peppi was Best of Opposite and also she gained new three titles (International & Latvian Champion and Latvian Winner 2013). So it couldn't have gone better! But the success didn't end here as in the group competition Gerard Jipping from the Netherlands gave the red rosette to Lucky which meant that Lucky won the Group!

Agility

Tosca (Iosono Diamante) gave birth to her first litter in July which meant that we had to keep a long pause from agility. We returned to agility competition on January the 5th after eight months of break. And guess what. Out of 30 dogs Tosca and me went to third place with a clean run result!!! The second agility competition was held on February the 3rd and once again, our result was a clean run and third place in the competition out of 30 dogs. The third competition was held February 9 and again a clean run and our placement was 8th  (it was an easy track and many dogs got clean runs). Now we are having a break (again) and we are hopefully getting back to competitions at the end of April.

Puppies

We are hopefully expecting Italian Greyhound puppies to be born in May out of Ch Northgate's Midnight Fantasy - Ch Iosono Fiamma.

Our next Cirneco dell'Etna litter is planned in autumn.

Inka also showed Lucky's Wales' born daughter Anharbn's Tango to Best Female 3rd and res-CACIB.

In the group finals Lucky was shortlisted among the 8 best out of over 40 dogs by Giuseppe Alessandra.

And in the group finals Lucky was placed the 2nd Best in Group by Soile Bister.

Altogether 16 000 dogs were entered in the dog show during the weekend so this was a historical achievement.

The Finnish Lure Coursing Championship competition was held at Tuomarinkartano sighthound center in Helsinki in 25.-26.8.2012. A new record, 9 Cirnecos, were entered.

Time flies as the pups are already 4,5 weeks old. Tosca enjoys so much being mother. Here are some candid shots of the puppies and their nurses.

Martin became Norwegian Champion

Martin (Iosono Galileo Galilei) moved to Norway from Russia to live at Astrid in the beginning of the year. Astrid also has another Cirneco, Lundii (Biscotti Babetta) who is the cousin of our Tosca.

Now it was time to participate in a show in Norway and what a way: Martin was BOB and BIS4 at Podencoklubben's specialty show 18.8.2012. He also gained Norwegian CAC and became Norwegian Champion. Now he is the Champion of thirteen countries! Might be a world record? Lundii was BOS and our late Miki's (Iosono Michelangelo) granddaughter Biz (Bresars Barbarella at Biscotti) was BOB puppy and BIS3 puppy.

The day after there was held the Oslo International Show and Martin was BOB with CACIB and Lundii BOS & CACIB. I think Martin fulfilled the conditions to become FCI International Champion by gaining the CACIB. Congrats!

In a couple of days Martin will become father for the third time as Red Hawk's Beatrice (aunt to our litter D) is expecting puppies at Biscotti kennel.
